On June 3, The National Environment Agency conducted about 305,000 inspections island-wide and uncovered about 9,000 mosquito breeding spots and has issued 59 stop-work orders to construction sites for repeated mosquito breeding offences this year.
IKARI was also recently interviewed about the rise of mosquito pest control issues from customers due to the weather and rise of breeding habitats.
In the clip, our staff can also be seen using a new product in2care, that uses a mosquitoes biology against it. The trap contaminates the mosquito with a slow-killing biological fungus and a larvicide. The fungus infection kills the mosquito over a few days and can block Dengue virus replication.
In the meantime, the infected mosquito will also spread larvicide to potentially hard to reach breeding sites around the trap. Aedes mosquitoes are skip-ovipositors (laying their eggs in multiple sites) and will carry the larvicide on their legs and kill larvae in each water body they visit.

 | Clear away water in your pots or containers
Eliminate unused water in pots, containers, bubbles baths, puddles and even your pet’s bowl! |
 | Do not just pour the water away, scrub the containers!
Did you know that pouring water away will not eliminate the eggs? There might be eggs still stuck in the containers. Yes they are that resilient! Scrub and wash them to ensure that it is really free from them. |
 | Keep roof gutters and drain clean at all times
These areas are great hidden places for mosquitoes (and other pests as well) to breed. |
 | Small crevices and holes – hidden but perfect breeding spots!
Holes and crevices might look harmless but due to its extreme humidity (coupled with Singapore’s weather) – it is the perfect condition for mosquitoes’ breeding spots. |
 | Moving waters – good to keep mosquitoes away and adding Feng Shui elements to your home!
Adding mini water fountains will do the trick because will actually keep the mosquitoes away. |
 | Repair or prevent outside water leakage
Encounter any water leakage? Locate and repair it as soon as possible for early prevention, as it might to leak to hidden places which stores water. |
