Ants Contaminate Food, Spread Diseases and Cause Short Circuits

Ants can pose a danger to you, crawling all over your home and office in their search for food, spreading diseases and causing destruction to your premises if left unattended. You should stop the infestations as soon as you notice it, as the longer you wait, the harder it will be to get rid of the ants. Once they build a colony in the walls of your home or office, it can be very difficult to exterminate them.

Spraying individual ants with pesticide DOES NOT work. It is not effective and does not solve the root of the problem. You are merely poisoning your environment with the pesticide. Call our IKARI team at +(65) 6743 1313  for a professional inspection of your site. We’ll even give you a free consultation (worth $500) on the elimination of the entire colony of ants, without harming the environment.

There are three common types of ants found in Singapore:

  1. Ghost Ants

Ghost ants get their name from their small size, pale legs and abdomen. As they are mostly found in your kitchen, bathrooms, dirty counters and floors, your highest concern would be on the transfer and spread of disease organisms. Exterminating them can be difficult as they are highly adaptable with multiple queen ants and multiple nesting sites, both inside and outside your premises. Once you see these little worker ghost ants, call IKARI for a professional inspection to pinpoint the nesting sites.

  1. Crazy Ants

Crazy ants get their name from their erratic and rapid movements. These ants are highly dangerous because they are invasive and very destructive, chewing through insulation to build nests inside your electronics and causing short circuits which could spark a fire outbreak. The potential fire hazard in your premises is compounded when the electrocuted crazy ants release a type of pheromones which attracts even more ants to build larger nests! This type of ants is very difficult to eliminate as they are immune to the usual types of chemicals. Call the IKARI team before they wreak havoc and destruction on your property.

  1. Pharoah’s Ants

Pharaoh’s ants are considered the most difficult ant to eliminate, as they are able to move multiple colonies and multiple queen ants from place to place inside your premises when threatened. The ants can transmit diseases such as Salmonella, Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. In hospitals, sterile equipment may be contaminated by these ants, and patients, especially burn victims and newborns are especially vulnerable, as the ants have been observed to seek moisture from the mouths of sleeping babies and IV bottles.

If you see these small amber worker ants, call us immediately and we’ll give you the professional help you need to exterminate them. The IKARI team is highly skilled and very experienced in dealing with these ants, even in sensitive environments like hospitals and food and beverage industries.
